Phase
1: Assessment
This
phase engages senior management in determining at the outset
what the Six Sigma program is required to achieve. Typically
scoping would include:
Understanding
Six Sigma in 30000ˇ¦ view
What success would look like after 1, 2 and 5 years
Understand of problem facing of corporation and prioritizing
potential pilot projects
Identify potential Green Belt candidates
How the program will be set up - responsibilities, resources,
reporting lines, controls and measures
The
most important aspect of this phase is the identification
and quantification of potential Six Sigma projects and their
associated business benefits. The program structure, training
plan, responsibilities and accountabilities are all developed
at this stage. The findings of this phase help to define
and develop the most appropriate training program. In many
cases, the skills required will include elements from other
methodologies such as Lean, as well as Six Sigma. The important
thing is not to be wedded to one methodology or another,
and that all the key people within the company are committed
to making it happens. Fig.

Phase
2: Green Belt Implementation
A
Six Sigma program should deliver significant, measurable and
sustainable results. The program for any company needs to be
adapted to that companyˇ¦s organization and culture - by means
of the appropriate management systems, processes, tools and techniques.
The important thing is to getting success in pilot projects and
to train up a team of key people from different department within
the company are committed to making it happen. Fig.

Phase
3 : Black Belt Implementation
Most companies focus all their Six Sigma efforts on training in
tools and techniques. However, those tools and techniques
will not deliver their full potential in a sustained way
if processes are inefficient and over-complex, and/or the
right management and reporting systems are not in place to
promote learning and achieve action on performance shortfalls.
Experience
repeatedly shows that addressing all three dimensions, systems,
processes and people in using tools and techniques - in a coherent
way leads to the behavior change required for sustainable excellence
in meeting customer, product quality and cost expectations. Fig.
